The certification, issued by a proclamation delivered by the Office of President Gloria Arroyo, grants SupportSave exemption from Philippine income tax, duties on imports, sales taxes and various other government levies and fees. PEZA is part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), established under the Special Economic Zone Act to promote the establishment of special economic zones exclusively for major foreign businesses whose operations benefit the Philippine economy.
