VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 31, 2009 -- Southwestern Resources Corp. (Toronto:SWG.TO - News) - The Board, management and employees of Southwestern Resources sadly announce the passing away of James (Jim) Hume, a director of the Company since 2002.

Jim was a dedicated and thoughtful director, as well as an engaging person. A clear example of Jim's dedication was during the recent crisis at Southwestern. Despite suffering from illness, Jim remained on the Board and helped guide the Company to a resolution of these issues. Jim's clarity, guidance and energy will be missed by everyone at Southwestern.
