SAN DIEGO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Dec 1, 2008 -- Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems subsidiary of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB - News), has received a contract valued at over $10 million for Phase 1 of the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) program.

Rockwell Collins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, awarded the contract and leads the CRIIS team.

CRIIS will replace the aging Advanced Range Data System currently in use at major U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy test ranges. CRIIS will improve time, space and position information (TSPI) accuracy, security, and provide improved datalink capabilities. The CRIIS design is based on a modular, open system approach and industry standard interfaces.

The Phase I award is the first of two phases leading to the upgrade of test and evaluation ranges in support of testing modern platforms. In two years, a single prime contractor will be selected from the two Phase I competitors to enter the system design and development phase.
