Canadian Superior Updates Drilling Progress at "Endeavour" Well On "Intrepid" Block 5(c) Offshore Trinidad CALGARY, ALBERTA--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 8, 2008 -- Canadian Superior Energy Inc. ("Canadian Superior", the
"Company") (Toronto:SNG.TO - News) (SNG - News) announced today, as Operator
of the "Intrepid" Block 5(c), that it has successfully drilled
the 26" hole section of the well and has run and cemented
in place the 20" casing string to a depth of 3,030 feet
subsea. The "Endeavour" well was spudded on August 28, 2008
and, as reported previously, the 36" surface hole section
was drilled successfully and the 30" surface conductor casing
was run and cemented in place. Following necessary drilling
operations, including the installation of the marine riser
and the blowout preventer ("BOP"), drilling will re-commence.
The next section of the well to be drilled will reach just
over 5,000 feet subsea. Speaking today, Craig McKenzie, Canadian Superior's Chief Executive Officer, said, "I am pleased to report our good drilling progress at 'Endeavour'. Considering the significant exploration success we have already achieved on 'Intrepid' Block 5(c), we are excited to be drilling 'Endeavour' and are optimistic that it will meet expectations. As in the previous wells, the 'Endeavour' targets a large separate structure determined from the analysis and evaluation of extensive 3D seismic. The primary objective includes proving up higher pressure horizons like seen in 'Bounty' with a secondary objective including at least one of the productive horizons penetrated in the 'Victory' well." The "Endeavour" well is planned to be drilled to a total vertical depth of approximately 18,000 feet subsea in about 1,000 feet of water and is expected to take approximately 100 days to drill. The "Endeavour" well is being drilled by the Kan Tan IV semi-submersible drilling rig, which drilled the "Victory" and "Bounty" natural gas discovery wells on this block in this initial 3 well program.
