The new book is the first in a series that introduces children to the seven major elements of art through a combination of simple descriptions of the art element, photos of artwork, and examples of how elements of art can be found in everyday items.

I've tried to take some of the mystery out of art so that children can learn to appreciate art," said Castillo in announcing the release of the book.

Castillo will also be introducing the book to teachers as a fun, insightful way for students to learn the elements of art, then create art projects in the classroom or at home that use the ideas and elements of art contained in the book.
