Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma (DSP) is Osaka's answer to disease. The Japanese drugmaker produces drugs in a wide range of therapeutic categories -- including cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and infections -- for its home market. Its products include blood pressure medication Amlodin, digestive tract treatment Gasmotin, and antibiotic Meropen. The company is developing drugs targeting the central nervous system, diabetes, and inflammation, and plans to distribute them domestically and internationally. In addition to its pharmaceutical activities, DSP makes food and feed additives, veterinary drugs, fine chemicals, and diagnostic reagents used in research and clinical laboratories.
