Entertainment Properties Trust invests in today's Roman circus. Including properties under development, the self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT) owns nearly 80 movie megaplex theaters and eight entertainment retail centers, totaling about 9 million sq. ft., in more than two dozen states and Canada. The company buys properties from theater operators and leases them back to the original owners. More than half of Entertainment Properties' theaters are leased to AMC Entertainment. The company's retail holdings, located in California, Colorado, New York, and Ontario, are multi-tenant properties anchored by multiplexes that offer specialty restaurants and retail stores.
