Fila Korea is putting its best foot forward. A worldwide leader among footwear and sportswear brands, it runs (through its operating divisions) about 500 distribution facilities, as well as some 300 franchise retail stores. In 2007 Fila Korea acquired the global Fila footwear and apparel business from Sports Brand International (SBI). As the deal was structured, Fila Korea acquired Fila Luxembourg (which retained the rights to the worldwide use of Fila brands and trademarks) from SBI. Fila USA and Fila Retail were included in the transaction. The company targets 18- to 34-year-old consumers, and plans to expand its affiliations with professional athletes and events.
