Item 8.01. Other Events.

On October 26, 2009, Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. issued a press release announcing that the 2009 American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in San Diego, CA from October 23-28 will be the venue for thirteen presentations describing the investigation of the Company's bacterial-related disease, inflammatory bowel disease and bowel cleansing product lines. A copy of this press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1.
