(b) On February 18, 2009, Steven L. Scheid notified The PMI Group, Inc. (the
"Company") of his resignation from his position as an independent director on
the Board of Directors (the "Board") of the Company. Mr. Scheid informed the
Company that he had decided not to seek an eighth term as a director of the
Company and, with increasing Board-related responsibilities, determined to make
the resignation effective immediately. Mr. Scheid had no disagreements with the
Company on any matters related to the Company's operations, policies, or
practices.
