On January 14, 2009, Calpine Corporation (the "Company") issued a press release announcing that its 2009 Annual Meeting of Stockholders (the "Annual Meeting") will be held May 7, 2009. Notice of stockholder proposals to be considered at the Annual Meeting must be received by the Corporate Secretary at the offices of the Company at 717 Texas Avenue, Suite 1000, Houston, Texas 77002, prior to the close of business on February 13, 2009. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
