Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure

On July 1, 2008, Gastar Exploration Ltd. ("Gastar") announced that it has published a report titled, "Drilling Down Under: Exploring Southeastern Australia Coalbed Methane Opportunities". This report can be found on Gastar's website at www.gastar.com and is being furnished as Exhibit 99.2 to this Form 8-K. The report includes a macro-analysis of the coalbed methane industry in Australia in addition to an examination of Gastar's specific opportunities in the region.

This press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1. Exhibit 99.1 and Exhibit 99.2 are being furnished solely pursuant to Item 7.01 of this report.
