(NasdaqGS:RSCR) Res-Care, Inc., a human service company, provides residential, therapeutic, job training, and educational support services to people with developmental or other disabilities primarily in the United States. It operates in three segments: Community Services, Job Corps Training Services, and Employment Training Services. The Community Services segment provides services for individuals with intellectual, cognitive, or other developmental disabilities, as well as provides periodic in-home care services to the elderly. Its services include social, functional, and vocational skills training; supported employment; and emotional and psychological counseling. The Job Corps Training Services segment operates various programs for disadvantaged youths through the federal Job Corps program, which provides educational and vocational skills training, health care, employment counseling, and other support services to enable disadvantaged youths to become responsible working adults. As of December 31, 2007, it operated 17 Job Corps centers in 9 states and Puerto Rico. The Employment Training Services segment operates job training and placement programs that assist welfare recipients and disadvantaged job seekers in finding employment and improving their career prospects. As of the above date, this segment operated 240 career centers in 16 states and Washington, D.C. These career centers provide information on the local labor market, vocational assessments, career counseling, workshops to prepare people for the jobs, referrals to occupational skill training for various occupations, job search assistance, job placement, and help with job retention and career advancement to job seekers, as well as offer job matching, screening, referral, and other specialized services for employers.
