My Gym Children's Fitness Center Launches The Activators

Children's Entertainment Group And Interactive Live-Action Series Combines Comedy, Fun And Fitness To Combat Childhood Obesity

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--My Gym Children's Fitness Center is now stepping up its continued efforts to reverse childhood obesity. The company has launched The Activators: An interactive comedy show for preschoolers – focused solely on physical fitness.

The multi-platform series revolves around four talented My Gym teachers, whose mission is to engage preschoolers in physical activity. The show premieres on the web at TheActivators.net with plans in store for television, home entertainment, publishing, and a nationwide tour.

Underscoring The Activators' message of fitness and fun, the group launches with a national campaign called "Be An Activator!" The objective is to have one million children take the "Activator Pledge," a downloadable page at TheActivators.net that will encourage them to develop healthy habits.

The idea began with a dad who brought his child to a My Gym birthday party in Encino, CA. This dad, screenwriter Gregg Lichtenstein, was so impressed with the talents of the teachers and their ability to keep the kids laughing and moving, he contacted My Gym's corporate management team with a pitch: An interactive series that would use comedy to inspire children to be active. The company instantly embraced Lichtenstein's concept and fast-tracked the show into production.

Through videos and performances that feature exercises, games, sports, and dances, The Activators make fitness fun and accessible to all preschoolers, regardless of athletic ability. My Gym oversees the show's fitness curriculum, which incorporates imaginative play, balance, agility, coordination, and development of manipulative skills and gross motor proficiency.
