AirTran predicts slight increase in Thanksgiving traffic compared with a year ago

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings Inc., said Wednesday it expects a slight uptick in the number of customers it serves over the Thanksgiving holiday week.

The discount carrier predicts about 600,000 customers will travel on AirTran from this Monday to next Monday, which would be a 5 percent increase from last year.

Earlier this week, the Air Transport Association predicted a 4 percent decline in the number of passengers traveling this holiday travel season.
