| AP NEW YORK (AP) -- Endologix Inc. said Tuesday it has asked a U.S. District Court to stay a patent lawsuit being brought by Cook Medical. Endologix filed a motion asking the court to stay or dismiss the suit while the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office re-examines the two patents that are being disputed in the lawsuit. The patents protect endovascular stent-grafts, which are used to repair arterial aneurysms. Endologix, of Irvine, Calif., said it wants the USPTO to reconsider whether the patents should have been awarded to Cook in the first place. Endologix also said it will argue that its products do not violate the patents. Cook, which is based in Bloomington, Ind., sued Endologix in October. Endologix said the suit is without merit. Endologix shares rose 6 cents to close at $4.38.
