| AP TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- US Airways Group Inc. said Wednesday that consolidated traffic and capacity fell in October, compared to the same month a year ago. The carrier said it flew, on a consolidated basis, 4.67 billion revenue passenger miles last month, a 0.8 percent decline from 4.7 billion revenue passenger miles a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile is an industry metric measuring one paying passenger flown one mile. Available seat miles, or capacity, fell 1.6 percent to 5.65 billion. Load factor, or occupancy, rose 0.7 percentage points to 82.6 percent. Year to date through the end of October, load factor rose 0.3 percentage points to 82.5 percent. Total revenue passenger miles declined 4.7 percent to 49.2 billion from 51.7 billion. Shares of the company rose 17 cents, or 5.8 percent, to $3.10 in morning trading.
